DEPARTMENT: Youth Activities: Burning Tree Country Club Camp

JOB TITLE : Theatre Arts Director

REPORTS TO: Youth & Recreation Director

SCHEDULE: Mondays and Fridays, 10 am – 1 pm

COMPENSATION: Competitive; based on experience

Burning Tree Country Club Camp is seeking a passionate and creative Theatre Arts Teacher to lead engaging theatre arts sessions for children aged 4-10. This part-time position involves working with six groups of children, providing them with a fun and educational introduction to the world of theatre.

This role is responsible for creating a dynamic, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment where campers feel confident, supported, and excited to express themselves. Through teamwork, professionalism, and innovative instruction, the Theatre Arts Director helps bring our camp mission to life while fostering creativity, collaboration, and personal growth

As part of the Theatre Arts Director, you will inspire creativity and confidence in young campers. At BTCC you have the opportunity to work in a supportive, values-driven environment as part of a collaborative team and to gain meaningful experience in youth arts education.

The Essentials (Core Responsibilities)

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate theatre arts lessons aligned with camper development
  • Facilitate six half-hour group sessions per day in an organized, energetic, and welcoming setting
  • Teach foundational skills in acting, voice, movement, and improvisation
  • Encourage creativity and self-expression in students through games, exercises, and collaborative projects.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that promotes teamwork, confidence, and a love for the performing arts
  • Communicate effectively with camp staff regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

The Standards (Qualifications & Professional Conduct)

  • Previous experience teaching or leading theatre arts programs for children preferred
  • Background in acting, directing, playwriting, or related performing arts disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire young learners
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • High level of professionalism, reliability, and accountability
  • Creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality
