MAIN FUNCTIONS
Technicians are assigned to carry out maintenance work. This can either be an ExxonMobil (XOM) employee or a Contractor resource. Typically reports to a supervisor. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Estimates workload to establish completion dates
  • Assists mechanical engineers in planning and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery (engines, instruments, controls, etc.)
  • Helps prepare proposals and cost estimates
  • Actively participates in all on-the-job safety tools
  • Reviews job packs
  • Identifies safety issues and ensures mitigation prior to execution
  • Executes work as planned
  • Records technical history (GRT, data sheets, etc.)
  • Provides feedback on job pack improvements to Execution FLS
  • Requests permits and escalates if not issued within 30 minutes
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Discipline-appropriate certifications or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication skills (clear field condition reporting + remediation recommendations)
  • Team-oriented; able to work cross-functionally without direct authority
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and shifting priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with pumps and air compressor maintenance
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
  • No man camp or per diem provided
  • Agency truck required:
    • Mechanics truck (¾ ton or 1 ton)
    • Crane minimum 3,500 lb capacity
    • Air compressor
  • Tools: Supplier provided (per XTO list)
  • 4-gas monitor: Provided by XTO
  • SCBA fit test: Supplier provided
  • SCBA mask: Scott brand required (supplier provided)
  • Potential OT at manager discretion
  • On-call rotation with standby time
  • Weekend standby: 4 hours each Saturday/Sunday
  • Minimum 3 years experience required
  • Preference: Local candidates (Midland/Odessa/Midkiff)
